Warsaw was originally "Dummer's Mills" (1830) and briefly
known as "Choate's Mills" before it was named Warsaw
by Thomas George Choate in 1839. He was a storekeeper and the
1st post master in 1842. Named after Warsaw, New York where as
a young man he was a millwright.
